Looking to reduce your environmental impact? Some small changes in the bedroom can make a big difference to the planet.
The production of wooden, glass and stainless steel toys results in less harm to the environment. Plus, they can be easily recycled when you are finished with them. It’s time to ditch the plastic!
Look out for vegan products.
Choosing a vegan product gives you peace of mind that no animals have been harmed in the process of making and supplying your product.
Choose organic and paraben-free.
Organic products are kinder to the environment because they don’t contain harmful chemicals such as paraben preservatives and glycerine.
Parabens are believed to disrupt hormone function by mimicking oestrogen. Too much oestrogen can trigger an increase in breast cell division and growth
of tumours, which is why paraben use has been linked to breast cancer and reproductive issues.
These chemicals are also linked to ecological harm; when they are washed into our sewage systems they can affect marine life and kill coral.
Turn out the lights.
Save energy – have sex in the dark or by the light of vegan soy wax candles. Even better, do it under the stars. (Just make sure the neighbours can’t see you!)
Avoid single use wipes. Many do not biodegrade. Even those that claim to be ‘flushable’ will still clog up our water ways. Designate a cloth, towel or flannel as your ‘sex cloth’ for mopping down afterwards. This can then be washed along with your other household laundry.
Consider products made from hemp.
Hemp is Mother Nature’s purifier as it rapidly captures carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. For each tonne of hemp produced, 1.63 tonnes of carbon is removed from the air.
